Nelson Jean-Francois

How do you define your organization’s success? What evidence do you collect to show your impact? And how can you make sense of data so that it helps to tell your story?

I help organizations in the public, private and non-profit sectors measure and answer questions like these by measuring their success, using data and evaluation to improve their capacity to tell their stories and showing their impact in inclusive and accessible formats.

Contact me for help shaping your impact narrative by building a stakeholder-centred evaluation strategy that works.

I believe that each organization should have the ability to build an evaluation strategy that helps them define what success will look like and tell their impact story. My vision is to make evaluation accessible to every organization and inclusive to all stakeholders.

What they say about me

I worked with Nelson on a non-profit youth-centered project. We provide programming for youth to better understand and process their mental health while trying to improve their overall well-being by using youth-input to provide training to those within youth care networks. This training has the aim of improving their understanding of the experiences of youth, so workers can provide better care. Nelson was contracted as a third party evaluator for our project and was able to provide invaluable assistance in the creation of a logic model for our project. He also provided training in Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning systems that has been integral to building the capacity of our organization. Nelson's continued training, advice, and suggestions have improved our project and we're looking forward to how this project will unfold with his continued assistance.

Nelson Jean-Francois is a passionate and engaging evaluation expert. He has shown this through his commitment to support both large and small non-profit, community-based and other agencies in understanding, sharing and using data and evidence to advance their organizational missions and have an impact in their communities. We worked together on a nation-wide project to support the immigration and settlement sector in using digital tools to bridge communication gaps between agencies and newcomers. Following this, we partnered as consultants to develop a measurement and evaluation learning (MEL) system and build capacity for a Black youth mental health project in a small non-profit in Montreal. With many agencies oftentimes strapped for time or capacity to incorporate MEL systems into their daily work, he manages to listen, adapt and steer partners and stakeholders toward a greater culture of learning that considers their specific organizational and community context. He carries out well-received training, includes the voices of staff and stakeholders and offers meaningful data collection, performance measurement and tracking tools.
