About the project

Refugee 613's Digital Messaging for Settlement and Integration (DMSI) project is a multi-year initiative funded by IRCC to test and improve new and ongoing approaches in the use of digital messaging to deliver settlement information to newcomers. The goal is to help close the information gap between newcomers and settlement services through the development and testing of digital messaging. Currently, Refugee 613 is testing a new, national, digital-messaging service to improve information flow for Afghan refugees. The new service is using Telegram to provide general information related to settlement and integration, answer inquiries, and direct members to service providers in their area. The goal is to add value to existing settlement services and make it easier for Afghan arrivals to find basic information quickly and easily.

About my role

As part of this project, my role is divided into three parts:

1. Design the monitoring, evaluation and Learning (MEL) plan for the Afghan Service DMSI project
2. Provide ongoing support to the team to implement the evaluation plan
3. Perform the final evaluation of the project.

About my accomplishment

I have already developed the MEL plan of the project that includes a logic model, a performance measurement framework (PMF), a project database and the lessons learned register. The project team has validated the MEL plan and is currently implementing it.

A monthly meeting is scheduled with the team to discuss challenges and support needed as part of the implementation of the MEL plan. The evaluation is scheduled for February 2023.
